At SeeRite Eye Clinic, our Doctors are highly experienced in the pre- and post-operative care of refractive laser procedures and cataract management. During your comprehensive eye exam, diagnostic measurements are taken as well as dilation of your eyes in order to properly assess the health and suitability of your eyes for surgery. This ensures proper guidance as to your candidacy for LASIK, PRK, intraocular lens implant and/or cataract removal.
Refractive Surgery (LASIK, PRK, Clear Lens Exchange)
SeeRite Eye Clinic is partners with TLC, Bochner Eye Institute and LASIK MD. Referrals are coordinated for further diagnostic testing prior to your procedure for refractive surgery. For those patients proceeding with surgery, your eyes are then closely monitored by our optometrists with follow-up appointments typically scheduled for 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months and 1 year after surgery.
Cataract Surgery
Cataracts are a condition of the eye that occurs to all mammals and are typically associated with aging (although some people are born with congenital cataracts). The lens inside the eye is clear and flexible when we are born, however due to UV and metabolic changes that occur to our eyes over time, the lens becomes thick and cloudy. When the cataract “ripens” enough to cause symptoms such as blurry vision, faded colours, haloes around lights or trouble seeing at night, your SeeRite optometrist will send you to a trusted ophthalmologist (eye surgeon) for cataract surgery.
Cataract surgery is performed in an ambulatory setting, such as a surgical center or hospital, and is typically quick and successful. One eye is operated on at a time, and healing occurs over 1 month with low complication rate. There are many technological advances and upgrades that can be selected in cataract surgery which can reduce or even eliminate the need for glasses after surgery.
